Louellen Vernon-White

Louellen Vernon-White is a printmaker, who specializes in etching. Her most current etching series depicts Guardian Angel Dogs and Cats.  Animals have always served as inspiration for her work.  “Growing up in Caswell County on a dairy farm with lots of farm stock, wild animals and pets were a major influence in my life, especially the pets I enjoyed.  I have vivid memories of reading books to my cats, singing to our pigs, and writing postcards from camp to my cat.  At East Carolina University not having pets proved hard for me, so I adopted a white rat.  I used my rat as an artist model and even took her to class with me; she remained quiet and easy to hide.  I soon became known as “nature woman”.  I am a student of the natural world and animals continue to be a constant source of delight and inspiration for my art.
